Not really when it involves serious geo-political issues. Even if there is enough oil to secure this world, there is a growing chance that the Arctic countries would fight for the control of the riches beneath the seas. Everybody is aware of Russian ventures in the Arctic recently. Countries nowadays care for their own domination rather that the good of the world’s citizens. The Arctic rich could stoke a new war between the superpowers, forget solving the energy crisis.

It’s not. Because Arctic oil and energy sources is not the permanent solution of the energy crises prevalent all over the world.

In case the Arctic sources will be used that will be benefiting only a few and far from solving the energy crises of the whole world.

Looking for the more sustainable sources of the energy than fighting for the sources on no man’s land (Arctic) makes more sense in a world which is already on the brink of vital conflict.

This is an absurd assumption. You dig up and pollute the arctic region and you will suffer even worse kind of repercussions. Besides, there is no energy crisis. There is enough oil around to quench the thirst of every nation. The rising oil prises is because of speculators and politics.

And who shall control the arctic oilfields? Russia has already claimed it. The USA is also after it along with some European countries. Even Japan can lay a claim. Will this be prelude to another bout of tensions between countries?

Maybe. It is better to utilize something that has the potential to bring down price rise all across the world, most critical of them food prices down. It must be done with some caution as we cannot afford any environmental disasters. The world is already wounded near-fatally.

Get the bugs out of the arctic region. Fossil fuel is unsustainable and we all know it. Why the hell the world is hell bent upon polluting the world even further. This is a very irresponsible way to think to solve global energy crisis.
