yes!! they do. they are convenient and eBooks are the way forward, and although the eBook market is still young and a bit of a wild frontier, it is growing considerably by taking market share from traditional publishers, who like it or not, have dined out on the public and now it’s time for the bill.

well my answer is yes. and I wanna tell you that I’ve been using a Sony Reader since last June. think of it as an electronic paperback. The fact that it is an electronic device just fades into the background when in use. its battery backup lasts for weeks and it holds about 100 books if you want that many, isn’t that enough to satiate your liking.

i am not agree fully with this. On the point of this doing away with the need for publishing houses, I differ. it’ll change the model and will affect the tradition one, but there will still be a need for professional editors and proof readers to make sure the books are error free. This still will still be best concentrated in publishers, or contracted through publishers.

it surely does and with that I think we’re all missing the big picture here.

eBooks will surely take of when they offer things which paper books can’t. they have all the features that one will like to be - Color, large fonts, movie clips, sound, hyperlinks... being a publisher I’m looking forward to the challenges of producing completely different types of books when the hardware standard for ebooks has settled down.

they are of help but with the technological advancement there are other things that are taking over it. Also as far as the reading hardware goes they may have missed the boat, at least for books. yes mobile phones have advantage over eBooks and the matter goes in their favor as mobile phones are just getting better and better - already you can use most of them as good ‘book readers’. what say????

ebooks definitely are a boon to environment. They can really save tons of paper and thus thousands of trees.

But having said that, ebooks would never have that special feel of real books!

Interesting idea, and perhaps a great boon, indeed. but will I be able to lend and sell the ebook when I have read it. Previous ebooks have had restrictions on second uses, this means that everyone has to buy their own ‘first hand’ copy. This is especially hard for students who make good use of books bought from those in the year above

Does anyone enjoy reading ebooks? I’d much rather sit down away from my computer and read an actual book in my hand. I guess you could print these out, but that would waste a lot of paper and it’s still not the same thing. Computers will never replace books.

Yes e-book do help authors in a certain way……………….but the question is that do the real or natural authors really need those so-called e-books, I don’t thinks so. Great writings are simply the spontaneous overflow of thoughts and feelings, which of course do not require the crutches of technology, but pure imagination and art to give words to thoughts and feelings.

E-books help distribute information to groups of people, whatever is the number - as employees of a company, students studying a particular subject, and so on - at a click of the mouse. But they don’t help book authors.

Ebooks from a personal perspective is a total waste if you wish to actually sit down and learn something. I personally can’t sit at a monitor for hours with my eyes frozen to lines and lines. I get tired really easily. However they are useful for quick scanning and saving paper. Nonetheless I do not like them and end up printing them if I have to read, which defeats the purpose.

E-books do help authors with information, but both the e-book and conventional books have their own places. There is no comparision between the two.
