Apparently there is no such oil shortage. Richard Pike CEO of the Royal Society of Chemistry, an oil industry insider is of the opinion that oil shortage is nothing but a myth!

Whether there is an oil crunch or not, one thing is crystal clear that we cannot survive without oil.

Mankind is a complex mix and capable of transforming the simplest of things into complex problems. What comes to man as a luxury at the initial stage gradually turns into a necessity, and then there is no reverse route from that meddled up situation.

Man came first and oil followed...but now the situation has reversed...now Oil is galloping on all four and man is following it shore to shore.

yes or no is not the debate we should be serious about but how to manage our lives after the last well of oil dries. that would be the day we will be in peril. the need for the hour is to look for the alternatives sources of energy. Biofuels are one of them but it couldn’t go long with our rising population and fuel demand. hence the need for the another one that could be used as a substitute for oil and we need to find one as soon as possible to end the worry.

it is virtually impossible to survive without oil in the the present day advancing era. it is impossible to keep pace without fuel. one can’t imagine life without oil...no planes, no cars no transportation...everything standstill. can you imagine life in such a scenario. it seems too horrible state of affairs wherein you need to stick to Bye cycle. no no don’t wanna think of that day.

Not really i think! We have already complicated our lives to an extent from where it’s not really possible to retreat, i mean thanks to technology each day we see increased numbers of cars speeding down the roads all around the globe and public transport in receding into extinction day after day. But then this oil crunch and the spree to obtain amounts and barrels will soon lead to a crisis that will shake the entire globe altogether! Doomsday ahead!

we need to invent some high-energy, cost effective to make fuel and I can guarantee, we would survive. Until then, all this complaining is giving me a headache! For all you “tree-huggers” out there, DO something to solve the energy problem, not just complain about it. My uncle, who has been a farmer all his life, is risking his life savings and millions of borrowed dollars to make and market fuel from corn. NOW that’s a solution.

I agree that oil sources are running short. Less availability leads to high prices. What i think is the rising oil prices will be a boon in some way. You might be surprised and yes, however, it is so. with the rising prices the world will use the oil sparingly and manage to save it as much as they can. on the other, it’ll help us in giving up gas-guzzling vehicles and stress conservation and the use and development of alternative energy. so this will help to avail the oil for a longer time than it would be with the low prices.

I don’t think there is no shortage of oil, at least for the time being. The thing that strikes me about this peak oil price issue is that no clear facts are emerging in the public domain. Reports are contradictory, some stating that there is insufficient supply to meet rising demand of oil reserves etc. and yet others state there are sufficient reserves to meet demand. Somebody somewhere must have a reasonable grasp on the numbers. There is clearly a lot of disinformation going on. but in the absence of oil, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to deal with the energy demands.

Well, frankly speaking, it seems difficult for the time being. The reason is we don’t have a good alternative. There are two possible alternatives, as far as my wit goes, handy at the moment – Biofuels and Nuclear energy. The former is a bad option and we could not satisfy our energy demands at the cost of hunger and latter is the prerogative of a few developed nations that have nuclear technology to satisfy their needs. And for god sake think not what will happen if such a situation arrives in year or two but woefully it’s imminent.

I’ll tell you all the million dollar answer. Realize the potential threat as soon as possible. Try to use wind and water as the energy sources. no matter if there is plenty of oil available for centuries to come. even if global warming doesn’t affect us as much as some people think; does that make it right to damage our planet and use every last drop of a natural resource? Do we really know all the consequences of removing all oil from the earth? I think it’s a very selfish standpoint to continue to use a resource we know will eventually disappear, instead of exploring alternatives that are less damaging.

Yes we can survive without oil only if we develop technology that will make separation of hydrogen from oxygen breaking water molecules portable and integrate it with the systems that run on fossil fuel. This is inevitable though in the near future.

The question should not have been ‘can we survive’, the question should have been what should be done. Man survived without fossil fuel till a few hundred years back and there is no reason why mankind cannot survive. Necessity is the mother of invention and we shall definitely come out with something that will serve as an alternative to oil.

Oil will run out in any case in the next half a century and if we are lucky in one hundred years. What will we do then? We shall most definitely develop technology that is sustainable and would replace the dependency on oil.

We have to find out alternatives for oil. Electric cars and vehicles are a reality. More investment needs to be put in to develop alternative technologies and fuels. Oil is not going to last forever on this earth.

According to estimates the total oil resources on the planet is enough to fulfill fuel needs of America for the next 125 years only.

It is very important that we must urgently find alternatives and then we can live without oil.
