Though speculating is very tempting on this issue, I would say China would still be at the second place in the medals tally of the Beijing Olympics. USA will will the lion’s share of the track and field events that incidentally has the largest number of medals for grabs. But China’s medal tally would be higher than it ever was for it. I would give China over 45 gold medals.

Yes China will win a hundred medals this Olympics. It may not win the highest number of gold medals but it will certainly win most medals — gold, silver, bronze combined. China is a sporting powerhouse now. It will win medals in disciplines that it never participated in before. Just wait and see. But the medals tally would put the country on top that wins the most gold medals. So America will be at the top.

China would definitely beat all countries this time in the medals tally and also be on the top of medals table. It will win the most golds, and of course the most medals too. The USA will come second, Australia may come third and Russia will perhaps take the fourth position followed by Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada.

No, in fact this year China’s performance will degrade and it will be a tough task for China to keep up with the expectations and maintain its last year’s standing.

Well, its not a wishful thinking by me. Its a fact which you all will witness once the final tally of the Beijing Olympics 2008 is done.

Don’t believe me? OK, meet you at the closing ceremony of the 2008 Olympics.

And yes, US will continue to rule the roost at Olympics.

I feel the same as Aneez. With the kind of hype surrounding China’s increasing sporting prowess I am afraid that it might not live up the expectations. I would say that if China can emulate its own achievement in the Athens Olympics in 2004 where it won 32 golds, 17 silvers and 14 bronzes with a total tally of 63 medals.

This year Russia will slip to fourth position and Australia would take the third position. China will continue to be in the second position after the United States with a marginal improvement on its last medals count. The country to watch this Summer Olympics would be Australia.
