Better luck to Hillary after four years. America will have grown up a little more by then.

In over its 200 years of existence as an powerful independent democratic nation, Bracak Obama becomes the first black potential president candidate of America.

Racism is still at play.

Over coming his black color, Bracak by the sheer caliber of his oratory skill and his commitment of not pitching one race against the other has overcome a great handicap.

Till now the contest was between a white woman and a black man, now the bar is raised to a black man verses a white war decorated man.

At one level the contest oscillates between a Republican and a Democrat but at a more grounded level, black against white is also being contested.

Only the final result will reveal whether America is finally coming out of it traditional mindset and willing to grant the blacks their rightful place.

frankly speaking, I doubt. Let us not delve deep into history and dig out the logics to support our beliefs but just look at the primaries that has ended with Obama’s nomination. this is weired to see that Hillary using race card against Obama in the the primaries to clinch the nomination. that is the clear indication that Racism hasn’t ended in US even after 50 year old Martin Luther king legacy.

Secondly, I don’t think US is ready for the change that perhaps Hillary or either Obama would be bringing. With all this on, the equation seems to change...yes you got it right. it can go now in favor of the republicans. As here even the same thing will happen for sure and woefully Obama will end up as an underdog.

racism can’t end in USA. there are simple reasons for that. If we accuse Hillary to use the race card against Obama, on the same time Blacks are voting for Obama more for his color than anything else... what i mean by this is, it’s not the fare selection for the democratic nomination. One should rise above this to chose its party nominee for the post.

on the other, Clintons are too offensive than the “Typical White Person” comment by Obama and the white thrashing that happens every Sunday in Obama’s church and many such churches across the country. so this racisim bully still continues, don’t no how long will it continue.

America still has racist elements, especially in the South, but as a whole the US is not a racist country.

Reading the comments there are some things to address. First, Hillary didn’t lose because she is a woman. She lost because she is Hillary. She is/was the most hated politician save Bush in the US.

Second, if Barack loses to McCain it is not because Barack is black and McCain is white, it is because Barack is a bad candidate. He has no experience whatsoever and is the most left-wing Senator in the Senate. Certainly there will be elements of people who will vote against Barack because of his race, but most of that will be in states that are safely in McCain’s camp anyway (see the South).

Colin Powell could have been America’s first black president had he chosen to run. He would have been a near shoe in for the Presidency. So this election is not a race thing, it is a quality of the candidate thing.

I rhyme with swint on the racism in USA. gone are the days when such things are taken into consideration. We have seen the primaries in US and my personal experience says white ppl voted for Obama whole heartedly while blacks were making mood.

But I do not agree with you on Obama’s experience. Bush was more ignorant than Obama is and his knowledge of foreign affair was almost nil. notwithstanding, he managed eight precious years in the white house.

thirdly, I firmly oppose those who harp on racism. Had there been no support from the white voters, Obama had not made it to democratic nomination.

You have to wonder whether the rabid American left really wants Obama to become president. If he does, it will destroy their whole anti-American narrative about racism, the very narrative they use to just their existence.

Obama is the very first serious black candidate, and he got the nomination on the first try. That clearly indicates America’s rap on race is undeserved. Now let’s see France, Germany, Italy or UK do this! Or China!

Rather it proves that it is racist. Look at the number of black Democrats who supported Obama compared to Hillary. Even then Obama got half the Democratic votes. This is apart from the fact that Obama is actually half white.

Now it comes down to the real battle - battle for the White House. It will be a battle between a pure white man and a man who is seen as a black by most Americans. The first choice would be the colour of his skin and if it doesn’t matter then the political ideologies of the two would decide. Going by the current scene the conservatives should lose. If it doesn’t and McCain becomes the President of United States, then there is no doubt that it will prove America to be a racist country.

One of the reasons Hillary lost was her bad luck. She has a guy called Bill Clinton as husband.

Many times during the campaign, Bill said many things that harmed Hillary’s chances.

Moreover, Hillary was from the start, fighting a ghost called Monica Lewinsky.

Hillary paid for the sins of Bill. I am not said these are the sole reasons for her defeat. It is only that in a close contest, even the smallest thing matters.

The question is whether or not America is racist or not. The line though is unclear becomes very much clearer than most of the places here in Instablogs. The black authors from America are all in favour of Obama while the whites are much reserved despite being proclaimed conservatives.

The problem is you cannot really ever know anyones true intentions as most who are racist just don’t come out and say it but make it obvious through their comments and writings. We will know it anyhow.

Anyway, the fact that Obama is actually all that we have now as McCain’s alternative of for another 4 years makes me really sick..
