The former South African fast bowler, Allan Donald, has argued in favor of legalizing the ball tempering. He favors the move to overcome the effect of dodo pitches and explosive batsmen by changing the nature of the ball. It’s has started a debate in the cricket world, with former world cricket players giving their opinion on the same. Srinath, former Indian pace bowler calls it illegal while Akram attributes Donald’s naive views to his inability to bowl reverse swing in his career. Nevertheless the question now arises whether it’ll be fair enough to legalize the ball tempering? Won’t it be bias with batsmen in a gentlemen’s game?

this is such a stupid idea. what’s left in the game then...cricket is more popular because of controversial comments than fair play. this is no longer a gentlemen’s game.

I don't think it should be illegal if done in a limit. It's up to the bowler's skill that how effectively can he use the ball without harming the basic shape of the ball.

The cricket these days has gone a batsmen dominated game so it has gone very urgent to give the bowlers a fair chance. On the flat pitches the bowlers are left with no options. When batsmen can be helped by providing them flat pitches and good quality bats why not to to equip the bowlers with more options.

I wonder how a cricketer like Allan Donald can make such a silly statement? Ball tampering was the business of Australian and Pakistani cricketers.

I agree with Donald, there should be balance between Ball & Bat , I think this is the only way of getting it in a batsman dominated game or otherwise ICC should stop covering the pitches. Let the pitches be in natural state.

I don't think ICC will ever allow this rather they will put a bowling machine, set it up to bowl only full-tosses so that batsmen could hit more and more sixes. That's pathetic.
