Is International Space Station a mere relic?
After 10 years and spending $100bn, the world celebrated International Space Station’s 10th anniversary yesterday, November 20th 2008. Sixteen countries joined hands to put the bits and pieces together to create the 627,000-pound marvel of hope. However, questions still linger about its real purpose, achievements and value for money.

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of the launch of International Space Station, the largest man-made structure in space. It is still incomplete but this does not mean it is just a piece of relic. It is supposed to be there to offer a permanently manned presence in space and to conduct scientific research. It also had the political role of bringing nations together in a joint effort designed for peaceful purposes.
With its over extended budget, it to some extent seems like a white elephant but when the results will be out, it will be regarded as ground work for human kind’s dream of inhabiting other extra terrestrial bodies.
