Is detaining Shah Rukh Khan at US airport racism?

US security checks are in question for a long time and are often accused for racism by the world for frisking the high profile foreign nationals. First it was the ex-Indian president, APJ Abdul Kalam, who was forced to go through the security check before boarding a US plane and now it is Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan. Mr. Khan was detained and questioned by US security at Newark, New Jersey. Is it racism, particularly when the greats like Bob Dylan – a US citizen and celebrity – was detained and questioned in the same way? Is Shah Rukh Khan’s detention an issue worth such hype? Should we treat the Americans coming to India in the same way?

Why a Bollywood star should get Royal Treatment at Immigration? However, I am amazed that more is not said about the disdainful screening process at the US immigration.
Why the passengers getting out of a 10-12 hours long journey are booked for 3-4 hours for a 10-15 minute inquiry?

Why was it racial? People didn't called it racial when Kalam was frisked by the air lines authorities. Why this time it has gone racial? It's nothing but a well planed publicity stunt by Shah Rukh Khan.

This is really a fake controversy designed to promote his movie "my name is khan". It has nothing to do with racism or discrimination.

As far as it is done in the name of stringent security checks, it is completely fine. But America will hae to understand that not every muslim is a terrorist.

You are right. Americans are not coming out of the Muslim phobia. They saw every Muslim as a terrorist. Security checks are justified but the way in which such incidents of frisking are appearing it seems these are guided by some sort of hatred towards Muslims and insecurity arising out of this.

Why is it racism? Is it racism to abide by the rules of your country? Is it racism to protect your country from the terrorists. If its racism we are ready to called as racists.

This is only media hue and cry to promote the movie ” My name is Khan” We must be deciplined while representing to our country and follow the rule book.

Undoubtedly we must be disciplined while representing our country but the way in which Muslims are treated at the American airports can not be justified. Americans feel in secure while dealing with the Muslims. I think this is a kind of moral victory of the terrorists working against USA.
