The recent transformation in global political order has changed many things. One of them is that the world is no more moved by a few countries like G-7/8. The rise of Brazil, China and India is phenomenal and any group without them trying to address critical issues like climate change, sky rocketing food and oil prices and credit crunch may prove to be paper tiger. Still, it shouldn’t be forgotten that G-7/8 account for a major chunk of world economy. They may not be the whole world but can turn out to be major influencers.

it does. blaming an organization for failure is never a sane saying. People involved are to blame, I think. G8 is a great organization, but the countries involved are not interested in doing something that hurts their interests, then who to blame organization or...

My answer is big NO. the organization has never done anything good to end the crises or had ever come out with the long term benefits for others to reap. it's merely an outing for the world leaders and a feast to enjoy, nothing more nothing less.

the organization is nothing more than the lunatic house where the fools rush in to prove others fool. Much of the world problems are due to or move around these so called great eight and they have never shown any desire to put that off, rather blaming it on third world countries...something that Condi Rice and Bush did while blaming India for the world food cries. Blaming is the solution, I suppose.

every organization needs changes with respect to time, but there are no changes in G8 fundamentals. It was long ago when the organization came into being and much water has flowed under bridge since then. other nations have emerged as the global powers i.e india and china. but the great powers never tired hard to include these nation to the organization. whereas these eight countries don't represent the bulk of the world population that could not go unnoticed.

it's quite strange that these ppl are making hue and cries against the problems but are doing nothing to solve them...this is bizzare to see that organization and the members concerned are blaming india and china and the so called third world countries for loins share in polluting the environment but are not willing to give them their due share in the organization. This is hypocrisy and making the organization null and void which otherwise can be a handy tool in solving many problems that world is facing currently.

why blaming the organization??? only becoz you are not its member??? Ridiculous!!! this is shocking to find that ppl here are ignorant and don't know much about G8...please don't talk about something that you are not well familiar with!!! do you ppl know what G8+5 means??? well i doubt... those who wry that G8 is not including some of the emerging powers of the world to the organization should must know that france and Uk has expressed their willingness to add Five countries viz. China, India, Mexico and South Africa to it. And days are not far when the organization will be called as G13 you just wait an watch.

somewhere I found the question related to the same issue: what should G8 focus on. and i laughed. my answer is not even different here. G8 should focus on... there are so many problems...but...and they only need to focus [sneering] and do nothing. if they are really interested in doing something than first focus on summit expenses that are going beyond £200m.

had this been saved more than 10,000 hungry people can be fed for a month altogether. still you need answer what these g8 leaders should focus on

G8 is incomplete without India, china and Brazil...these countries represent half of world's population and also account for the major chunks of the world economy. world can't deny them their due and it remains to be seen how long will they continue doing so while aggravating the problems that will go unsolved as long as these countries will not be allowed to have their say.

i agree g8 is a great organization...it would have been every grater had other developing countries been included in it. Great eight it too superior a tag that member countries don't want to dispense with or share it either...but now there is a firm need to...as long as they are interested in maintaining the world order.

G8 is useless organization...i beg you pardon. well what irks me is why can't the G8 leaders be more concerned with their own people in their own countries instead of dictating how the world should live?

How about a global ban on the Arms Trade? Why not a global ban on foreign troop deployment in any country?
