‘Curvy women should stay off the catwalk’: Do you agree?

A new controversy has risen in the fashion world after the popular German magazine, Brigitte, said that it’ll remove thin models from its pages in favor of ‘real women’. Jumping in the fray, Karl Lagerfeld, the German fashion designer, has weighed into the debate over size zero models, saying that curvy women have no place on the catwalk. He was further quoted as saying that no one wants to see curvy women. Do you agree with Karl Lagerfeld?

disagree! We have plenty of curvy women who would be great to watch on da catwalk!

FYI, skinny women in my country are seen as malnourished & wouldn’t easily find a suitor :-)

... that counts for it doesn't matter if they are fat or thin, what maketh the woman is the personality within and for the most part, ultra pretty women I have found to be more likely to be vain and extremely shallow.

I prefer ladies to be a bit "firm and fruity", to be intelligent and witty and not willing to turn themselves into anorexic abominations because "fashion" says so.

Putting it bluntly, I will talk all day and all night with a large lady with a mind than some brain-dead stick insect who looks like she might fade away at any second.

Two thirds of Americans are overweight. One third are obese.

So clearly, skinny models are the problem.

NO ONE has said they want to see 'obese' women on the cat walk...i believe they are using 'curvy'!! you can be a size 10 and be 'curvy'! we are talking about size 0 models who should be taken off the runways and we are by no means saying that they should be replaced with unhealthy morbidly obese women! Anyone who things size 10-12 even 14 is fat and unattractive, needs to take a serious look at themselves! For the record! i am size 8! i am not some unhappy overweight person who is trying to justify anything!! i just want to see an example set by healthy women! i want my children to grow up knowing that its ok to be a women and its not ok to be a size zero if that means starving yourself!!!

Isn’t a little presumptuous of Mr. Lagerfeld to speak on behalf of EVERY ONE?

size zero women dont look more than a hanger on the ramp.
A dress looks beautiful on a cuvy woman than a skinny woman.

I think Lagerfield has to brush up his vocabulary. Doesn’t he know the meaning of curvy ? Curvy implies a well-defined body for women( which is very agreeable to see on the ramp). It in no way means obese. How can he call curvy women ”fat chip eating mummies”? I’m sure his rigorous dieting schedule has impaired his judgmental capacity. Thumbs down to this guy !
