As the readers migrate online, World’s major newspapers Viz. LA Times, The New York Times and Boston Globe etc. are cutting their staff to combat shrinking advertising and circulation revenue. The last week of June alone saw a dozen newspapers slashing the payrolls and some of them outsourcing all their printing. Does it mean that the print media is finding it difficult to survive the digital surge? What do you say?

It definitely can. the fact that print media industry has grown by 17% in this financial year says a lot about the so-called-damage digital stuff is doing to it. My parents dont know how to log on to the internet, so i believe a lot of people of their age too wouldnt know. im just speculating, but nothing at all can hamper the newspapers...they are the classics, timeless in their own right!

Newspapers and books give a different feel altogether.Digital Versions, atleast until now is only very brief - It demands short, crisp and to the point news . It cannot offer analysis in detail.Even if it does, I don’t think people would prefer reading it.

No. I think this slashing payrolls has more to do with economics of production and technology.
Digital media does not reach vast populations like newspapers do.
Circulations haven’t suffered due to digital invasions, have they?
