Are ALIENS a media-generated myth?

Belief in aliens came to a new high when former NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr. Edgar Mitchell claimed that aliens exist. The Apollo 14 mission veteran asserts that aliens visited Earth several times, however, the government kept it a secret for 60 years. Earlier in May, Jeff Peckman claimed to have a video showing an alien. The screening, though, was unsatisfactory. There is no real proof of the existence of extraterrestrial life and media seems to provide enough raw material to the inquisitive public.

I don't think we can discard the theory that there are intelligent life out there some where because the theory of probability suggests that earth like planets may be in millions. But what we 'see' on earth might not be the real thing.

No doubt about it. The cheap news dishers like Aaj Tak and India TV have crossed all limits sensationalising such hearsay. I think the Apollo mission guys just wanted to see the reaction with their statements. They are having some fun in their old age.

The image in this debate is a phony one. It has been proven time and again that such stories of UFO spotting or alien abductions are actually hoaxes. There are some mysteries surrounding some UFO spottings, but there is no conclusive evidence at all.

Aliens are like ghosts. They exist all over, but we can't see them. Since their technology is millions of years ahead of us, they know how to camouflage themselves perfectly. I would go one step further. It is actually the aliens who brought life in this world.

Aliens are an alien-generated myth. Ask Scully and Mulder.

I heard a few ISRO scientists saw and photographed what seemed like aliens in the Himalayas... If scientists are saying this we must not just reject their presence on earth. Hmmm... sounds funny, but I would definitely not liked to be beamed up.

Aliens are reality, and one day everyone will agree to it.

If aliens are a media-generated myth, then God is certainly an alien!!!
Anyone who says aliens don’t exist must prove the existence of God first!!!
A few hundred years ago they thought the earth was the center of the universe... Look where we are today... just because we have no evidence to prove alien sightings, it doesn’t mean we should deny the existence of life beyond earth completely!!!

Asmita is right. Just as there are no aliens, there is no god. Such fantastic ideas are created by the media only. The world is unique and this is the only tiny spec of the infinite universe where there is 'life' as well call it.

Could be. You never know what the media could cook up to make viewer read watch and listen to them. Peronally, im not believeing in the idea of aliens until i see them and they talk to me directly :P till then do whatever Media!

It would be unfair to blame the media only for generating the kind of mass hysteria surrounding aliens. The societies across the world is to be blamed as well. Why do people vouch for something that they have experienced that is unreal and unsupported by evidence?

The existence of aliens is not a myth. I can say so because my own aunt got abducted by aliens when she was eight years old. She was crippled by polio and could only drag herself. But after the abduction, she started walking like a normal person albeit with two holes right through her thighs.
On second thoughts my mom says I should quit doping. She thinks I am having too much of it.

I strongly disagree. As I right this comment, I’m sure I am being watched by a pair of shining eyes - aliens do exist.
How can we say that aliens are nothing but a media-generated myth? Give me a single instance where the media has presented an exclusive view or a case study on aliens without giving the necessary reference credits.
There are people who can swear by their Gods that they have seen an alien. And if someone really claims that aliens do not exist, they are in no way superior, or believable, than those who vouch for the existence of aliens because, like the believers, even they have failed to prove their point.
As for me, I do believe that aliens do exist - and are more superior than the human race. Our planet can be compared to a third world country as compared to the ones inhabited by the aliens.
Aah, I’m sure those watchful eyes are scanning each word of my comment!
